CNN Greece honoured the "Faces of 2024" with an impressive Gala

On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the event "Faces 2024 – The Gala" by CNN Greece was held at the Old Athens Stock Exchange with great success. The evening honoured individuals who, through their dedication and work, serve as shining examples of contribution and inspiration for society. The event was hosted by Renos Charalambidis, while the Minister of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, extended a greeting. The Content Director of DPG Digital Media Group, Sofia Mavrantza, referred to the "Faces" institution, which CNN Greece has been supporting for seven consecutive years now.

A particularly special moment of the evening was the speech of Dr. Sam Tsemberis, one of the 100 most influential people in the world for 2024, according to Time. In the first part of the awards, outstanding figures from the fields of science, sports and social contribution were recognized for their work. Among them were Ophthalmology professor Giorgos Kymionis, professional diver and researcher Kostas Thoctarides, surgeon Giorgos Sotiropoulos and a team of students from the University of Patras, iGEM Patras.

In the second part, awards were given to Paralympian Lida Maria Manthopoulou, 20-year-old swimmer Christoforos Theofanous, Artistic Director of the Olympic Flame-lighting and Handover Ceremonies Artemis Ignatiou, representatives of the "Organization Earth" as well as visual artist and academic Dr. Ioannis Michaloudis.

Among the presenters of the awards were the Minister of Health Adonis Georgiadis, the Minister of Social Cohesion and Family Sofia Zacharaki, the Mayor of Athens Haris Doukas, the General Manager of Google Southeast Europe Peggy Antonakou, the Director and Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos" Giorgos Nounesis, former international basketball player and European Ambassador of Panathinaikos BC AKTOR Fragiskos Alvertis, the General Manager of Communication & Sustainability at Papastratos Themis Chassiotis, distinguished lighting designer Eleftheria Deko, and artist Iason Megoulas (Cacao Rocks).

The evening concluded with the Grand Award for Contribution, presented by the CEO of DPG Digital Media Group, Tina Ferentinou, to "ELPIDA - Association of Friends of Children with Cancer". The Director of CNN Greece, Dimitris Pefanis, closed the event, renewing the appointment with the "Faces" of 2025.
